Muladhara is the combination of two Sanskrit words- ‘Mula’ means root and ‘Adhar’ means base. And in Hindi chakra means wheel. That is why muladhara chakra is also known as the Root Chakra. Muladhara chakra or root chakra is the first chakra and leads to the foundation of the human body. The Root chakra is located at the base of the spin between the anus and genitals. And as the root chakra is the foundation of the body, it helps in opening all the other 6 chakras. Moreover, this chakra emits the color red and is based on the earth element.

Muladhara chakra or root chakra helps to build a strong connection to the earth, as we know the element of this chakra is earth. When the root chakra is balanced, it makes us feel confident, stable, and energetic. It also assists by filing our primary needs which are important for survival and support. The energies of root chakra keep us connected to the earth.

Color- Red

Furthermore, each chakra is associated with a specific color that holds significance in one’s life. Likewise, red is the main color of the root chakra and it is the color of energy that governs the functions for human survival like reproduction and feeding. Apart from this, red also symbolizes human’s physical and emotional needs.
